What you will build

A dated inspection record with unresolved issues and written repair estimates.

This is the course plan, with practical tasks and the source material to explore now. The full written lessons will be developed from this outline.

The lesson plan.

05 lessons
  1. 01

    Identity and documents first

Match physical identifiers and records. Confirm the seller’s authority and investigate gaps in history, ownership and outstanding finance using the relevant local process.

Your task Complete an identity and document reconciliation.

  2. 02

    Bodywork in context

Compare panel alignment, repair evidence and repeatable coating readings. Different headlight markings or disturbed bolts are questions to investigate, not proof of a crash.

Your task Create a panel map and an evidence photo sequence.

  3. 03

    Diagnostics without false reassurance

Save the scan before anything is cleared. Understand scanner coverage and ask a qualified technician to investigate faults, incomplete monitors and symptoms.

Your task Attach a diagnostic report and an unresolved-issues list.

  4. 04

    Cold, warm and underneath

Arrange a safe, insured test drive and a professional underside inspection. Use the manufacturer’s process for fluids; never open a hot cooling system.

Your task Record observations and the scope of the professional inspection.

  5. 05

    Turn findings into a decision

Obtain complete repair estimates and lead times. Reject risks that you cannot identify, price or responsibly pass on to the next buyer.

Your task Write a buy, investigate or walk-away recommendation.

Put it to work

One practical assignment.

With permission, document one vehicle from identity checks through a qualified inspection. Save panel readings, fault reports, photos and quotes. Mark every item checked, not checked or requiring specialist work.
